Welcome to 6th Grade! 
    Dear Families

    Welcome to our 6th grade team at Fancher Elementary!  It is hard to believe the start of another school year is just around the corner, but we hope you have enjoyed a relaxing & refreshing summer!  We are excited about this new school year and are looking forward to working with you and your student throughout the year. This year your student will be on a team of three core teachers including Mr. Hoyle, Miss David, and Mrs. Zimmer. This will be a great opportunity to get a “feel” for 7th grade next year when you will switch teachers every hour. We would like you to know that our goal for your child is to have a wonderful year in 6th grade – a year in which significant, positive growth takes places academically, socially, emotionally, and physically.

    Education is extremely important.  It prepares you for the future and helps you better understand your world today.  Each one of us has talents that we can share with others.  We also all have weaknesses -- areas where we need the help of others.
    In order to make our classrooms positive learning environments, we all need to work together to create a community where we learn from each other and feel safe to take educational risks.  This means making mistakes is a good thing, as long as we learn from them.  It means asking questions is essential to learning.  It means recognizing that you have knowledge to share and there is a wealth of knowledge you can gain from others.  We must all celebrate our differences, unique talents, and various areas of expertise if we truly want to grow and learn.

    It takes everybody working together to make sixth grade a success.  Let's all work together to make this a great year!

    At Fancher we take pride in our school-wide positive behavior expectations. We will be working to create a SAFE learning environment filled with students who display OWNERSHIP, positive ATTITUDES, and RESPECT in all they do.

    In order to make the most of our time in the classroom, each student needs to practice behaviors that encourage learning, participation, cooperation, and teamwork.  

    Positive behavior is rewarded and recognized for outstanding classroom behavior and citizenship with Falcon Feathers, which earn students the opportunity to attend scheduled celebrations.  On the other hand, behaviors that impede the learning of other students will not be accepted and are recorded in the Classroom Falcon Tracker.

    *Some behaviors may cause a student to move a level and/or require the student to visit the principal. Refer to Handbook in Student Agenda.


    Students are allowed to bring snacks and water bottles to class.  We will take short breaks on most days to stretch, use the bathroom, and have a light snack.  We simply ask that the snack is healthy and that everyone picks up after themselves.  Some suggestions are: yogurt, fruit, veggies, pretzels, crackers, cheese sticks.  Students may keep a water bottle at their desk to stay hydrated.  Soda pop, sports drinks, and other beverages are for special parties only!

    No “I” in TEAM

    In order for students to be successful, a team approach is necessary as the student, the parents, and the teacher work together for a positive, successful year!  Please feel free to contact us via e-mail. We will do our best to return your email within 24 hours.  Students will be using their agendas every day, so feel free to write notes there.  

    Visit other tabs for homework assignments, calendar, updates and online resources. Working together, we know this will be a wonderful year. It is guaranteed to be busy – and there are always challenges to face – but it is our sincere desire to help make this a valuable and enjoyable year of growth!
