Mt. Pleasant Public Schools is excited to offer FREE BREAKFAST to all students at MPHS beginning Monday, April 29th!
Mt. Pleasant Public Schools is excited to be able to offer FREE BREAKFAST each morning to our 9th through 12th grade students at Mt. Pleasant High School, beginning Monday, April 29th, 2019. A nutritious free breakfast will be available in the cafeteria each morning. Students should report to the cafeteria as soon as they arrive at school to eat their breakfast.
Breakfast provided for our students can have an amazing impact. Research shows that students who eat breakfast:
Improve academic achievement
Have fewer health issues
Behave better in class
A school breakfast can provide peace of mind for parents who are often rushed in the morning trying to send children off to school!
What Are the Nutritional Requirements for School Breakfasts?
School breakfasts must meet the applicable recommendations of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and are designed to ensure that students enter the classroom well-nourished and ready to learn. The meal pattern for breakfast includes fruits, whole grain-rich foods, and milk. Breakfasts are also limited in sodium, calories, saturated fats, and trans fats. The decisions about what specific food to serve and how they are prepared are made by local school food authorities.
How Does Universal Free Breakfast Work? Breakfast will be available in the MPHS cafeteria each morning. All students may take breakfast free of charge. Students will use their current lunch account number when they have breakfast, however, charges will not accrue. (If your child has elementary siblings, we have been able to offer Universal Free Breakfast in our Mt. Pleasant elementary buildings, since January 2018, and Mt. Pleasant Middle School was added April 22nd, 2019!)
