Mrs. Wood, our speech teacher, came in to teach some classes about communication devices and how some people need to use them to communicate. They even got to try and communicate with their group using the device! Most of the students call these devices a talker! If you'd like to learn more we have provided a link. https://youtu.be/zpDq7stIbRQ?si=4S5VCjMM6I8MlDS6

Yesterday was our first Gator Swap of the year! Teachers have an activity in their classroom and the students get to choose which activity they would like to participate in. It is a fun way for the teachers to get to know other students and for the students to have some fun! We aim for one Gator Swap at the end of each month. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Hvv-2ekWzuhqg5G9qwkaJudWwyX0mWd5?usp=sharing

Our Native students had lunch with their Native Advocate and Tutor. We held a discussion about our 7 grandfather teachings. This was an introduction for some students, our hope is to discuss each teaching and gather a better understanding of the teachings that have been passed down for generations.

Popcorn tomorrow!

Ganiard Elementary students would like to give a big THANK YOU to the Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation and the Harkins Community Fund for their generous grant award to provide PE equipment for our students! This grant made it possible to buy new soccer balls, basketballs, hockey sticks, and a tumbling mat for students to work on their new skills!

Just a reminder!

Reading at home strengthens children's vocabulary, communication, and literacy skills. Reading at home for just 20 minutes a day can be very beneficial and creates a meaningful bond between you and your child. We have some pictures of our second graders reading books from their RED book bags!

Ganiard students and staff wore orange on Monday, Oct. 9 to honor Indigenous Peoples' Day. Throughout the week classrooms also read and taught lessons to raise awareness.
