Congratulations to Mrs. Schafer's class for collecting the most money for Coins for a Cause! They have earned a pizza party! A huge thank you to all the classrooms on your efforts to help the Gratiot County Hope House and a few Ganiard families in need.

The lost and found has many items that we would like to get back to your child! Please let your child's teacher or the office know if you see something that belongs to you. All unclaimed items will be donated after school on Tuesday, Nov. 26.

An update from our district nurse.

Congratulations to these Gators for showing teamwork!

Last week Mr. O'Toole's class started back up the "Gourmet Gator Cafe." It is a project the Ganiard MiCI class did for a couple years before Covid hit and we haven't done it since! We are back in a position where we can do this again and we are so excited about it! Friday was our first sale, and on Wednesday and Thursday last week our class worked hard to prepare pumpkin muffins and take orders from Ganiard staff! It was a great day, the students loved it and we learned a lot of great skills. With our cafe we work on functional skills such as hygiene, food prep, and kitchen safety. When taking orders and making deliveries, we can work on language and communication. When it is time to collect payments, the students can see real word examples of using money, counting money, and making change! Our cafe was a huge success and we look forward to sharing future photos too!

It’s the last week to participate in Coins for a Cause! Don’t forget to have your students bring in spare change. All of the money raised goes to Gratiot County Hope House to support their homeless shelter and a few Ganiard families in need this holiday season. The classroom that raises the most will win a PIZZA PARTY!

Congratulations to these Gators for showing teamwork! They also earned a book from the vending machine!

This week's information from our YSU officers.
Here are some crime prevention tips for parents:
-Teach children safety: Teach children to be aware of their surroundings, walk confidently, and avoid dangerous places. Children should also know how to settle arguments peacefully and never bring weapons to school.
-Set boundaries: Set limits on where your children can go, and make sure they know when to check in with you. You can also pick a safe house in your neighborhood where your children can go if they need help.
-Get to know your children's friends: Meet your children's friends' parents and keep their phone numbers.
-Be aware of suspicious people: Alert the police if you see suspicious people loitering.
Protect your home: Don't leave valuables in plain sight, and lock your car doors when you're away.
-Protect your finances: Check your bank and billing statements for unauthorized charges, and don't write account numbers on checks.
-Protect your online safety: Teach your children to never give out their password, change it frequently, and only use kid-friendly websites.
-Report abuse: If you suspect child abuse, you can report it to social services. You can also contact law enforcement for referrals to crime prevention programs

This week's information from our YSU officers. Cyberbullying is an unfortunate reality in today's world. Here are some tips for parents if your child has been involved with cyberbullying Make sure your child is (and feels) safe. Safety is the number 1 priority. Be sure to convey unconditional support and help the child understand you as a parent want the bullying to stop as well Talk and listen to your child. Exchange in a calm conversation. Try not to minimize the situation, and ask what they would like to see happen at this point. Collect evidence. Screenshots, recordings of conversations, messages pictures, videos can be used as proof when reporting the incident Work WITH the school. There is a school bullying policy. School admin can help the victim feel safe at school and can help hold the offender accountable. Refrain from contacting the parents immediately. Oftentimes acting out of emotion can lead to unproductive discussions. Take some time to collect the facts and contact the school and or police before moving forward. Contact the content provider. If done on an app/social media, Cyberbullying violates the Terms of Service. Reporting it could allow the provider to remove the post. If needed feel free to use the counseling resources at the school. MPMS has an amazing staff, please reach out to them.
