4th week of A.L.I.C.E review. This week is C - Counter. Counter is not fighting. Counter is a strategy of last resort. Counter focuses on actions that create noise, movement, distance and distraction with the intent of reducing the shooter's ability to shoot accurately. Counter is a strategy that is taught differently based on age.High schoolers can be taught a much more aggressive strategy as a kindergarten class that will be taught to scream and run. Any chance a possible victim can restart the thinking process of the intruder could buy them critical and possible life saving seconds.
Although Counter is a last resort, teachers need to know what resources they have available and have a plan if intruder is able to enter their classroom..
