Fancher Elementary had a scheduled drill for their first lockdown/green vest drill. Students were well prepared and have practiced each step of ALICE with their teacher.
A - Alert (notification of danger)
L - Lockdown (barricade the room, prepare to evacuate/counter if needed)
I - Inform (communicate intruder's location/direction in real time)
C - Counter (create noise, movement distraction)
E - Evacuate (when safe to do so, remove yourself from danger)

Meet our Youth School Liaison Officer -
Officer Theisen has been with MPPD for almost 10 years and in Law Enforcement for 12 years. This is Officer Theisen’s 3rd year in the Youth Services Unit. Officer Theisen has an office at Mt Pleasant Middle School and is also responsible for Fancher Elementary, Vowles Elementary, Ganiard Elementary, Kinney School, as well as Sacred Heart.

Students and teachers are off to a great start and working hard as they have jumped into our new ELA curriculum called Bookworms. Students are doing lots of reading and having great discussion over quality texts. #EmpowerExcellence
